Your story stays yours.
What you write here may be the most private thing you ever write. This policy explains, in plain language, exactly what happens to it.

Who we are
Pratiora (“Pratiora”, “we”, “us”) is an AI service that helps people make sense of a breakup. This policy explains how we handle personal information when you visit pratiora.com or use the Pratiora app.
For the purposes of the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), Pratiora is the controller of your personal data. You can reach us at privacy@pratiora.com.
What we collect
Information you give us
- Account details: your email address and password (stored as a secure hash), or, if you sign in with Google, your name, email, and profile picture from Google.
- What you write: your onboarding answers, the story of your relationship, the questions you ask, and the answers Pratiora gives you. We call this your content.
- Clarity: your clarity score and the counts behind it (questions resolved, claims labeled as evidence or inference, contradictions found and explained, repeated questions), your open questions, the contradictions found in your story, and any beliefs marked as dismantled.
- Story map and report (Closure Pass): when you ask for it, the timeline, contradiction map, “what you can and can't know” and closure summary built from your content. The PDF version is created when you download it and is not stored by us.
- Screenshots (Closure Pass): if you add screenshots, we keep only the text read from them: a short summary and the key lines, with phone numbers, emails, addresses and links replaced by “[hidden]”. We never store the image itself. Your device makes it smaller and removes location and device details before it is sent; it is read once and then discarded. You can delete what was read from any screenshot at any time.
- Messages to us: anything you send when you contact support.
Information collected automatically
- Technical data: IP address, browser type, device type, and timestamps, used to keep the service secure and working.
- Usage counts: how many questions you have asked, so we can run the free questions and prevent abuse.
- Free-question check: so each person gets the free questions once, we keep a one-way code (a keyed hash) made from your email address and from a random ID stored in a cookie on your browser, together with a count of free questions used. The code can't be turned back into your email, contains nothing you wrote, and is used for nothing else.
Analytics: we use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages and steps are used, so we can fix what is confusing. It receives page views and a few product events (for example that a question was asked or a pass was bought), never anything you wrote, your name or your email. We do not use advertising trackers or fingerprinting, and we share nothing for advertising. We never ask for your ex's contact details, and we never contact anyone on your behalf.
Sensitive information and your consent
What you write about a relationship can reveal sensitive information, such as details about your mental health, sex life, or sexual orientation. Some laws, including the GDPR, treat this as “special category” data.
We only analyze your content after you give explicit consent in the app, and we tell you exactly what will be read before anything is analyzed. You can withdraw consent at any time by deleting your content or your account. Withdrawing consent doesn't affect processing that happened before.
Please avoid including other people's full names, contact details, or anything that identifies them more than you need to. You can describe your ex without naming them.
How we use your information
- To answer you: to generate your answers, calculate your clarity score from your own story, build your story map and closure report when you ask, and show your history.
- To keep you safe: to notice language about self-harm or crisis, stop the analysis, and show real-world support.
- To run your account: sign-in, password resets, the free-question counter, and payments (including confirming a payment directly with our payment provider).
- To protect the service: to prevent fraud, abuse, and attacks, and to fix errors.
- To talk to you: to send service emails (for example, a sign-in link). We don't send marketing emails unless you opt in.
- To meet legal obligations: when the law requires us to keep or disclose information.
What we never do
- We never sell your personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
- We never use your content to train AI models, ours or anyone else's.
- We never read your content for marketing, and staff don't browse it. Access is limited to what is needed to fix a problem you report, keep the service secure, or meet a legal obligation.
Legal bases (EEA and UK)
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we rely on these legal bases:
- Contract: to provide the service you signed up for (account, answers, clarity, story map, payments).
- Explicit consent: to analyze content that may include special category data.
- Legitimate interests: to keep the service secure and prevent abuse, in ways you would reasonably expect.
- Legal obligation: where the law requires us to process or keep information.
- Vital interests: in the rare case where showing crisis resources is needed to protect someone's life.
How the AI works with your content
To answer a question, Pratiora sends only the parts of your content needed for that answer to our AI provider, through its business service. Under its terms, that data is not used to train AI models. The provider may keep it for a limited period (up to 30 days) to detect abuse, and then deletes it.
When you build your story map, the same rules apply: we send your story and the answers you received in the current chapter, once per build, and nothing else.
When you add a screenshot, the image is sent to our AI provider once to read its words, after an automatic safety check. Intimate images are refused and not read. We never store the image; the provider's rules above apply to it. Please add only screenshots of conversations you were part of.
AI answers can be wrong. That is why every claim is labeled as Evidence, Inference, or Unknown. Pratiora does not make decisions about you that have legal or similarly significant effects.
Who processes your data
We use a small number of trusted providers (“subprocessors”) to run Pratiora. Each one may only use your data to provide its service to us, under a written data processing agreement. These are the kinds of providers we use:
| Provider | Data involved |
|---|---|
| Database and sign-in provider | Account details and everything you write |
| AI provider | The parts of your story needed for one answer, and screenshots you add (read once) |
| Website hosting provider | Technical request data (IP address, browser) |
| Google Analytics | Page views and product events (never your story, name or email) |
| Abuse-prevention provider | Account ID and request counts, never your story |
| Sign-in partner (only if you choose it) | Name, email and profile picture from that account |
| Payment provider | Billing details; we never see full card numbers |
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect someone's safety, or as part of a merger or sale of the business. In a sale, this policy would continue to apply to your data, and we would tell you first.
International transfers
Pratiora is used worldwide, so your data may be processed outside your country. When we transfer personal data out of the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, we use recognized safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses and the UK International Data Transfer Addendum, plus the security measures described below.
How long we keep it
- Your content and account: for as long as your account exists.
- When you delete everything: your content, clarity, story map, and account are erased from our live database immediately. Encrypted backups roll off within 30 days.
- Story map: kept with your account and replaced each time you rebuild it.
- After 100% clarity: your questions, answers and screenshots are deleted 30 days later. Your story map and report stay with your account until you delete it.
- Clear my story: erases your story, questions, answers, screenshots and story map right away and keeps your account, payment records and free-question count.
- Inactivity: if you don't open Pratiora for 6 months, your story, questions, answers and screenshots are deleted and your account stays. After 24 months, the account is deleted too.
- Security logs: kept for up to 90 days.
- Free-question check codes: the one-way codes described above stay after you delete your account, and deleting an account uses up the free questions for that email and browser, so a deleted account can't be used to get them again. They hold no content and can't identify you on their own. We delete them after 24 months without use.
- Payment records: kept as long as tax and accounting laws require, by us and by our payment provider. They contain no content from your story.
How we protect it
- Everything is encrypted while it travels and while it is stored.
- Each account can only ever read its own data. This is enforced by the database itself, not only by the app.
- Access to our systems is limited to the few people who need it, and it is logged.
Your rights and choices
Wherever you live, you can:
- Delete everything, instantly, from your profile (“Delete all data”).
- Access or get a copy of your data in a portable format.
- Correct information that is wrong.
- Withdraw consent to analysis at any time.
- Object to or ask us to restrict certain processing.
EEA and UK residents
You have the rights above under the GDPR, and the right to complain to your local data protection authority (in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office). We'd appreciate the chance to fix it first.
California and other US states
Under the CCPA/CPRA and similar state laws, you have the right to know what we collect, to delete it, to correct it, and to limit the use of sensitive personal information. We do not sell or share personal information, and we only use sensitive information to provide the service you asked for. We will never treat you differently for using your rights.
To use any right, email privacy@pratiora.com from the address on your account. We reply within 30 days (or sooner where the law requires). We may need to confirm it's really you.
Cookies
Strictly necessary cookies: the ones that keep you signed in and protect your session, and one random ID that lets us give the free questions once per person. They contain no advertising or cross-site tracking.
Analytics cookies: Google Analytics sets cookies (named _ga) that tell visits apart so we can count them. If you visit from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, these cookies are off by default and analytics runs without identifying your browser. There are no advertising cookies anywhere. You can block analytics cookies in your browser settings at any time; Pratiora works the same without them.
Age requirement
Pratiora is for adults aged 18 and over. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone younger. If you believe a minor has created an account, write to us and we will delete it.
If you are in crisis
If what you write suggests you may harm yourself, Pratiora stops the analysis and shows real-world support. We don't contact anyone on your behalf. See Safety and crisis support.
Changes to this policy
If we make a material change, we'll tell you by email or in the app before it takes effect. The date at the top of this page always shows the latest version.
